A Holistic Approach

AwareNearth believes that collecting and sharing global and local perspectives on our ability to confront existential threats can help shape a safer, more sustainable world. By preparing for challenges today and making responsible choices, we can safeguard the future without compromising nature or future generations. Our approach aims to reach three different audiences: High-level decision-makers, civil society, and future generations, acknowledging their engagements within the rich natural diversity of the planet as well as within the anthromes we have created during our history.

High-level decision makers

For the crucial period of planetary stewardship from 2030 to 2050, AwareNearth will launch a global online survey to constructively evaluate how international initiatives, such as the Pact for the Future, translate global commitments into positive local impacts. This effort aims to foster a more sustainable and thriving future for all. Comprehensive findings will be shared in a final report in 2029 with future leaders, decision-makers, and the public. An interim report in 2027 will highlight progress and opportunities for growth across vital global themes, including sustainable development, peace and security, innovation, youth and future generations, and global governance transformation. This public-participatory survey, hosted on the AwareNearth virtual platform, will be disseminated before the 84th UN General Assembly to empower informed action.

Public & Private communities

AwareNearth will develop edutainment and artistic products, including documentaries, comics, board games, a podcast, and interactive exhibitions to explore global and local threats and solutions in an engaging, non-anxious way. These will demystify complex issues such as sustainable development, peace, security, planetary boundaries, existential threats, and future scenarios, making them more accessible. The aim is to deepen our understanding of today’s challenges while inspiring curiosity, informing decision-making, and encouraging conversations while having fun with family and friends.

Future Generations

AwareNearth will enrich the global survey and edutainment initiatives with audio and video testimonials captured across the seven continents covering both natural biomes and anthromes. These recordings will feature authentic footage of different environments, preserving a powerful visual and emotional record for future generations. Participants will answer “How do you feel, and how do you feel about the world?” alongside the overall topic of existential threats. This legacy for the future and next generations will be securely archived for dissemination in 2050 and safeguarded in physical formats worldwide, creating an enduring legacy of human voices and imagery.

Our Local Touch

IAwareNest is the local touch of AwareNearth, bringing our global vision for environmental stewardship to life through direct action. Rooted in the ethics of permaculture—Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share—AwareNest cultivates the idea that local action can contribute to global changes.

Permaculture is a design approach that mimics natural ecosystems to create sustainable land management and settlement. It uses whole-systems thinking to apply principles in areas like regenerative agriculture, town planning, rewilding, and community resilience.

This 3.5-acre unique and protected wildlife reserve, nestled between Geneva and Lausanne, Switzerland, is more than just a sanctuary. It's a living laboratory where natural biomes and anthromes merge, demonstrating how humanity and nature can coexist and thrive. We're launching a permaculture project here to welcome diplomats, scientists, and the broader public, inviting them to experience the benefits of nature firsthand and explore the intricate relationships between local and global, human and natural worlds. AwareNest is a place to share ideas, inspire change, and foster a deeper connection to our planet.
