Announcing New Projects

For its 2025-2026 engagement and exploration phase, AwareNearth is excited to announce a series of strategic partnerships. We're collaborating with diverse and committed stakeholders to develop solutions addressing natural, anthropogenic, and future existential threats at local, regional, and global scales.

A global journey for action

AwareNearth is embarking on a seven-continent journey to shape its 2027-2029 regional teams. We're forging local and international partnerships in advocacy, science, and art to confront existential threats. Through this expedition across diverse biomes and anthromes, we'll capture original imagery to fuel our mission. This initial phase of Awarenearth's five-year journey is dedicated to learning from diverse cultures and communities.

We're thrilled to introduce Carlos Pérez Osorio, an award-winning movie director who has joined our team. Carlos has directed documentaries on human rights and social conflict across Latin America and the Middle East for outlets like Discovery Channel, The Intercept, UNICEF, and UN Women. His work includes the Emmy-nominated "Caravanas" (Discovery Channel) and the Ariel Award-winning "The Three Deaths of Marisela Escobedo" (Netflix).

New York Climate Exchange

At the occasion of the Sep’25 New York Climate Week, AwareNearth will be collecting worldviews from students engaged in climate change advocacy and story telling. We will meet with them in New York city and in Governor’s island to hear their present and future views on climate change challenges and their sustainable solutions! Join AwareNearth and NYCE in New York to talk about climate, ocean and coastal resilience !

Mini 30x30 challenges

Joining the Azul Foundation and its fantastic initiative “Mini 30x30 Challenge, A students' wave for the ocean” inviting students aged 4 to 18 to learn about the importance of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and take action by learning and discussing the role of MPAs and the need to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030 (the global 30x30 target); voting on the ocean benefits they find most important; and signing an open letter to the United Nations, encouraging them to commit to a stronger ocean action. AwareNearth, in its initial engagement journey will connect with additional schools within the six continents during the period July 2025 - July 2026. To date, the Mini 30x30 challenge has already reached 9,377 students, 302 schools across 27 countries.

Resilience: A positive look at existential threats

In the same positive, emotional and artistic spirit, AwareNearth is starting a new book with French-Uruguayan illustrator author Nat Cardozo's together with a panel of recognized international scientists to navigate what represent a series of 20 existential threats. Looking at the realities of each treat, the book aims to look at positive and hopeful vision of our present and future. Nat’s first book "Roots" celebrates the wisdom of over 20 Indigenous peoples worldwide. Through stunning illustrations and personal stories, it highlights our shared human origin and interconnectedness with nature. The book showcases these communities' resilience, deep respect for the environment, and their vital role as Earth's first conservationists, offering lessons for living in harmony with our planet.
